One Simple Way

To Map Out Social Media Content

You don’t need much convincing to know that social media has a HUGE impact on your business. We’ve all heard about posting consistently and to deliver high quality content. Super simple, right? Yes! Actually sticking with it, along with running your business and daily life? Yeah . . . not so much.

When we aren’t always prepared and when that happens, we do one of those “#happylifestyle” posts with a pretty picture but not much depth or value. It’s ok, we’ve all been there.

Here is a super simple way to plan out a month’s worth of content that will connect people to your business AND is relevant to what you are promoting. That is: using longform content to pave the way for you to plan out your social media.

Long Form Content

By long form content, I mean blogs, podcasts, Youtube videos, ect. This is content where you give massive value and shed light about your industry to people who are eager to learn.

For the sake of keeping things simple, I will use a blog as an example.

Example

Let’s say that your goal is to post 4 blogs per month (1 per week) and 5 social media posts per week. You have 1 blog to pull from for social media each week. You just need to take a little snippet from the blog for each day.

Let’s Break It Down! (Example)

For a month, you want to delve into the world of health and teach your audience about the different aspects of health: physical, mental, emotional, and in the last week tie it all together with a cute, little bow.

That first week, your social media posts will focus on the physical side of health. That can be diet, exercise, recipes, as long as it somehow connects to your blog post about physical health.

Post 1

Share a healthy recipe that you’ve used and love. People LOVE food and if people associate you with their newest, favorite recipe, they'll be more inclined to listen to you.

Post 2

Share about how you woke up and didn’t feel like working out yet you did it anyway, even if you had to modify the exercise moves. Showing vulnerability makes you relatable.

Post 3

Open up about your weightloss journey (or pull from someone else’s).

Post 4

Ask a question. People feel validated when you ask for their opinion. Just make sure it’s simple because everyone is busy and we have the attention spans of caffeinated squirrels.

-Favorite exercise?

-Favorite veggie?

-Which pair of yoga pants is your favorite (use pictures of yourself ideally)?

-What junk food do you WISH was healthy?

You get the idea.

Post 5

Do a Reel (on Instagram and/or Facebook) about how you are able to eat healthy on a budget. Reels are gold.

And just like that, you have a week’s worth of content that was all pulled from one blog post. You didn't need to reinvent the wheel every single day. You just needed to use what was already there.

It does require additional work on the front end, BUT it will help your social media flow much more nicely. And you won’t have to worry about scrambling, trying to figure out what you’re posting about the day of. Having a plan and keeping it simple are sure ways to stay consistent.

This is just one of the many ways you can map out your content. Of course, if you just absolutely abhor using social media and want to spend your time in the areas of your business where you know you thrive most, we will be happy to help you!
